Trans-Atlantic Solo Row

Over 3,500 people have reached the summit of Everest. More than 450 have been into space. Only 45 have rowed solo across the Atlantic Ocean. No American has ever rowed across the Atlantic solo from mainland to mainland or from Africa to South America. The youngest person to row across the Atlantic Ocean solo was 23, until now.

Next December Katie Spotz will row across the Atlantic Ocean according to prevailing winds and currents. The journey will begin in Saint Louis, Senegal and end in Cayenne, French Guiana rowing at sea for 70-100 days on a twenty-four foot ocean rowboat.

As part of the challenge awareness and funds will be raised for the Blue Planet Run Foundation, a charitable organization that works throughout the world to help communities gain access to clean drinking water. Katie will attempt to break the world record for:
